This Blog will explain how to edit the attachment settings for your emails in our organization to send as a file or as links.
Recipients who subsequently click on the attachment link may see a message asking them to contact the email sender to view the attachment. Now they can receive files from Salesforce by editing their Email Attachment Settings in the organization.
Note: This doesn’t apply for List Email or Mass Email features.
Edit Email Attachment settings from Setup
In Salesforce Classic
- Click on Setup.
- In the Quick Find box, enter email attachment.
- Click on Email Attachments under Email Administration.
- Make a selection on the right side under ‘Default Behavior for Email Attachments.’
- Click on Save.
In Lightning Experience
- Click on the gear icon and click Setup.
- In the Quick Find box, enter Emails attachments.
- Click on Emails Attachments under Email.
- Make a selection on the right side under ‘Default Behavior for Emails Attachments.’
- Click on Save.
The available selections for step 3 are:
- Always as links
- Include as attachment up to 3 MB or as links if more
- Include as attachment up to Salesforce email size limit or as links if more
Note: The size limit for an email is 35 MB, with a per file attachment limit of 5 MB. For each matching record, all attachments that are sent with the email are duplicated, which affects your data size limit. Any attachments that aren’t added are listed in the confirmation email that you receive from Salesforce.
