How to Assigning custom Lightning Record Pages

What we can do with Lightning Record Page Assignments ?

Is your custom record page ready for your users? Use the Activation function inside the Lightning App Builder to get the page out to them. We can make our custom record page the default record page for all users, assign it to specific Lightning apps, or assign it to record types and profiles. Assigning the page to a Lightning app, record type, or profile. gives our users access to a record page customized for the context they’re working in.

Salesforce Classic offered a simple mechanism for customizing a page with Record Types and Page Layout Assignments. Page Layouts could be assigned by Profile and Record Type, and that was it. Page Layout will be shown based upon the Profile and Record Type Assignment.

Now We have an additional piece of configuration called a Lightning Record Page. The Record Page essentially sits on top of the Page Layout and is used to determine how the Lightning Components are displayed to a user.

To Access Record Page Assignment – Firstly we have to Go to

Setup -> Quick Find -> Search Lightning APP Builder -> Record Page -> Next

There are three ways that a Lightning Record Page can be assigned to users:

• Org Default
• App Default
• App, Record Type and Profile

Org Default :

Org Default assigns the Record Page to all Profiles giving all users the same page structure across the board. Firstly Save the Page. Most Importantly We have to Activate it. After that only We can see the Difference Between the Assignments.

To Activate Org Default :

Activation  ->  Assign as Org Default -> Select Assign Form Factor -> Save

App Default :

App Default assigns the Record Page as the default for a specific app. let’s say that we have a Sales App and a Marketing App. and This gives each App users a more tailed user experience. Firstly save the page. Most Importantly We have to Activate it. After that only We can see the Difference Between the Assignments.

To Activate App Default :

Activation  -> Assign as App Default -> Select Apps -> Select Form Factor -> Save

App, Record Type and Profile :

We can customize our different users experiences by creating custom record pages and assigning them by app, record type, and user profile. Firstly Save the Page. Most Importantly We have to Activate it. After that only We can see the Difference Between the Assignments.

For Example Give our sales managers a different view of opportunities than our sales reps.

To Activate App, Record Type, and Profile :

Activation  ->  Assign as App, Record Type, and Profile -> Select Apps -> Select Form Factor -> Select Record Type -> Select Profile -> Save
